Measuring For Window Blinds
Extend the measurement by 50 100mm on each side to minimise light seepage and ensure proper fixing of the blind.
Measuring for window blinds. Measure the drop from window edge at the top to the bottom of the window or floor. Measure the width from window edge on the left to the window edge on the right at the top of the window. Consider adding 3 inches to your width measurement which will allow your blinds to extend past the window a bit farther and block more light.
Next measure the width you want covered. When you measure always use a steel tape to measure down to the nearest 1 8th inch. Decide if you want an inside mount or an outside mount before you begin the measuring process.
If the window is set in a deep recess fitting the blind inside makes for a neat finish. The space you measure for depth should be flat and not beveled. But mistakes in measurements can ruin them altogether step 2 measure for width.
Note the smallest measurement as it will be the one you use step 3 measure for height. Step 1 be sure to measure accurately. When measuring for outside mount horizontal blinds start by measuring the window s width.
